Vini nel Mondo - A major quality wine exhibition
RESULTS
2005 Edition – Results for the first edition of Vini nel Mondo: positive, and beyond expectations
At the first edition of “Vini del Mondo“ , held from 16 through 18 September 2005, Spoleto played a leading role in a highly visible and prestigious event.
Combining wine and a city of art was a perfect choice; although this was only the first edition of this project, the challenge may certainly be said to have been won. The following data prove it.
Exhibitors
- 180 exhibitors from Italy's most prestigious wine cellars took part, with more than 2,000 labels.
Visitors
- The three days of the event recorded about 40,000 visitors (note from Civil Protection), despite having “challenged’ other important events, including Rome's Notte Bianca, in which the city was open all night long.
Visibility
- The three days of the event attracted more than 15 television crews, including those from the Rai and Mediaset networks, and satellite and local broadcasters, with reporting on the various news programs, theme broadcasts, and magazine shows. Newspapers and magazines published more than 50 articles and reports, in national and local publications, tourism and food and wine magazines, and general publications. The event was also given broad coverage by national and local radio broadcasters.
- The Christie's charity auction attracted strong interest from the public and the media alike. The leading press agencies – more than twenty of them from Italy and abroad – reported on the bottle of Brunello di Montalcino, Riserva 1964, sold for € 4,200. The news was also picked up by Reuters, which spread it throughout the United States.
- As for Internet, by entering “vini nel mondo“ (including quotation marks) into a research engine (Google), users, after the event was over, came up with about 11,000 results (99% of which combined with the word “Spoleto“).
